The iPhone 15: New Colors and Braided USB-C Cables - What We Can Expect
The iPhone 15 could be available in five fresh colors
- Rumors suggest that the iPhone 15 models could be available in at least five different color variants.
- Apparently, Apple plans to include a color-matched braided USB-C cable with each iPhone 15 model.
- So far, only white cables with white rubber coating could be selected, irrespective of the device's color option.
Rainbow iPhones?
A mysterious Twitter leaker, "Unknownz21", has seemingly provided a wealth of information about Apple's upcoming devices, including testing of at least six different color variants for the iPhone 15. These include Pink/Rose Gold/Blush Gold, Green, Blue, Yellow, and Orange, in addition to several variations of Black.
Although only five different USB-C cable colors have been revealed so far, we could thus expect at least five new color options for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus compared to the current models:
- iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus: Midnight, Starlight, Yellow, Blue, Purple, PRODUCT(RED)
- iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus: Midnight/Black, Starlight/White, Yellow, Blue, Orange/Coral
Given the conspicuous absence of PRODUCT(RED) in Unknownz21 and Kosutami's color palette this year, it seems quite possible that there might not be an iPhone in this color this year. However, PRODUCT(RED) might return as an additional color option for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus in the spring of 2024.
Color-Matched Cables
Just yesterday, it was revealed that Apple apparently plans to include a color-matched, braided USB-C cable with each device in the iPhone 15 series for the first time. So far, all cables, regardless of the selected color of the device, were white with a white rubber coating. However, Apple has increasingly switched to braided cables recently.
The colors of the braided USB-C cables coincide with several of the color options that Unknownz21 says Apple has tested. All in all, this could roughly be what we can expect in terms of color options for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.
In a Nutshell
The iPhone 15’s color palette could add fresh flair to Apple's value of color. Not only a larger selection than previous models, new tones come into play, from Orange/Coral to multiple shades of Black. Colorful fans should not rejoice too soon - these are still rumors, and it's not yet certain which colors will actually make it to production. The color-matched, braided USB-C cables, which Apple plans to include for the first time, remain exciting. Until the official launch in the fall, we can only speculate.
