Apple makes it easier to restore or repair a Mac in DFU mode: The expected macOS Sonoma update.
With the upcoming macOS Sonoma update, Apple is making it easier to restore or repair a Mac in DFU mode. Previously, you needed a second Mac with the Apple Configurator app to do this. But with macOS Sonoma, the Apple Configurator app is no longer necessary. Instead, you can initiate the restoration process directly through the Finder on another Mac. DFU mode occurs when there is a power failure during a macOS update or upgrade, causing the Mac to become unresponsive. For the restoration, both Macs need to be connected to each other via a USB-C cable and both must have macOS Sonoma installed. The update is expected to be available in a month or two.
