A new 5K Display enters the market
Samsung's latest ViewFinity S9 5K Monitor, which was briefly available for pre-order on Amazon last week, is now officially available in the USA through Samsung and Amazon. It's one of the few 27-inch 5K monitors on the market and competes directly with Apple's Studio Display, which provides ideal pixel density for full Retina quality.
Price and Performance ratio
With a price tag of $1,599.99, the ViewFinity S9 essentially matches the Apple Studio Display's price, though Samsung includes a tilt and height-adjustable stand as standard, while Apple charges an extra $400 for it. The ViewFinity S9 can also be rotated into a portrait orientation with the included stand.
Features and Extras
The ViewFinity S9 comes with a Thunderbolt 4 port, three USB-C ports, and a Mini DisplayPort. It also includes 90 Watts power for devices connected via Thunderbolt 4. A detachable 4K SlimFit Webcam supports tilt adjustments and auto framing, similar to Apple's Center Stage feature. Built-in speakers with an Adaptive Sound+ option that automatically adjusts noise levels are also on board.
Integrated smart TV apps and a remote control allow the monitor to be used as a television without a connected computer, supporting popular streaming apps and the Samsung Gaming Hub for playing cloud-based games from Xbox, NVIDIA, and more.
Samsung's new ViewFinity S9 5K Monitor offers a wealth of features and extras for its price. Not only does it compete in the same league as Apple's Studio Display, but it also has several advantages, such as a height-adjustable stand included in the price. Moreover, it offers a variety of connectivity options and features, including built-in smart TV apps and a gaming hub. Making it well suited not just for professional use, but for leisure use as well.
